I urge those of you in the Palm Drive Hospital District to vote for Naomi Fuchs for Director. Please see her statement below.

1. What is your background pertinent to the position you are seeking?

I have been an executive in health care administration for 25 years and
currently I am the CEO of the Southwest Community Health Center, a
non-profit community clinic for uninsured and underinsured families. I
have a strong background and successful track record in collaborative
partnerships, financial management, operations, and strategic planning.
I have served on the Palm Drive District Board for the past four and a
half years, including as board president for two years and treasurer for
two years.

2. Why are you running for the health care district?

I want to continue to serve on the board to ensure that Palm Drive
Hospital succeeds in this extremely complex and difficult health care
environment. I believe that health care services should be local and
responsive to the specific needs of our community. As a board it is our
job to be thoughtful guardians of our precious health care resources; we
need to understand the business environment that we operate in and find
creative and responsible strategies to provide for our long-term
sustainability.

3. What must the district do to maintain the current level of patient
services and remain financially solvent in the foreseeable future?
Please be
specific.

1. The district must continue to practice sound fiscal policy
including:
* Continued monitoring and, when needed reduction, of expenses
though improved service contracts and tight financial controls.
* Improvement of the business office practices to make certain of
correct billing and collection of insurers and private pay patients.
* Continued renegotiation of insurance contracts to maximize
reimbursement.
* Continued reduction of the use of registry nursing services,
when possible.

2. The district must continue to be an outstanding employer in the
community to attract and retain the highest quality staff.

3. The district must work closely with our dedicated physician
community to ensure that Palm Drive provides an excellent work
environment that meets their clinical and professional needs.

4. The district must look for new business and service
opportunities that will bring in additional bottom line revenue.

5. The district must continue to listen to people we serve to
understand the needs, concerns, and hopes for strong and healthy
community.
