I highly recommend Robert Grove, Endodontist, Farmers Lane, Santa Rosa. He does pain-free, non-toxic root canals and is a wonderful person. They give a nice discount if you pay in cash. He uses ozone and all natural materials in the repair. I could not believe the lack of pain which is because he is so thorough. My sweetie had the same experience.
I do not recommend Mary Ellen Chalmers. She seriously overcharges and does not stand by her work (she says she does but she doesn't). I had work done by her associate dentist at her office which cost three times more than anywhere else and when it failed I was out of luck! She has a big reputation but my experience as well as my friend's was not good.
For a low-cost, no-frills dentist I recommend Norman Chau on Cleveland Ave, Santa Rosa. He charges the lowest fees of anyone I have been to and he refers to specialists when appropriate. He tends to be pessimistic and has recommended extraction for teeth that I saved, but he did collaborate with me when I said I wanted restorations. I like him - he really seems to care about people. He is one of very few dentists who accepts Medicare. No fancy office. Friendly, responsive staff and cooperation with my dental goals.
I can also recommend specialists outside of Sonoma County if you have specific needs. I can also recommend a prosthodontist but not locally. I would love to find a good prosthodontist here. I am also looking for an excellent periodontist. I have been to Justin Gee for that. His skill is excellent but there was a screw up with the billing... there were a few things that went wrong there. Gorgeous office and not-so-good "bedside manner".
Feel free to contact me if you need more advise. I often create my own dental strategies and have succeeded greatly doing that. One of the things I have learned is that when a dentist says, "that tooth can't be saved" what that means is "that tooth can't be saved by me." I have saved several "hopeless" teeth through diligence, determination, and a lot of money. That can only happen by finding the most excellent specialists.
Good luck!
