Ethnic Studies cops?

We are students, parents, and community members from Santa Rosa who are writing to express our opposition to any continuation or further implementation of the “Ethnic Studies with a Cop” pilot program organized by Santa Rosa Community Engagement Office and Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) in collaboration with Santa Rosa Recreation and Parks Distance Learning Camp and Care. We feel that this program is deeply misguided and was carried out with insufficient public input. We do not feel that law enforcement facilitation contributes to the teaching of ethnic studies, and we feel that it violates the needs of students, especially BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) students, to learn about ethnic studies in an environment in which they both feel and are safe.
