    Another COVID saliva test

Israeli scientists at medical center develop Covid-19 instant saliva test

A newly developed saliva test aims to determine in less than a second whether or not you are infected with the novel coronavirus, Israel's largest medical centre said on Thursday.

Patients rinse their mouth with a saline wash and spit into a vial. This is then examined by a small spectral device that, in simple terms, shines light on the specimen and analyses the reaction to see if it is consistent with COVID-19.

Still preliminary, but they claim 95% accuracy.

    Re: Another COVID saliva test

This is from the University of Illinois where did my MS and Phd studies:

Illinois rapid saliva test for COVID-19 now operating under FDA Emergency Use Authorization

Unlike most coronavirus tests, which involve a long, invasive nasopharyngeal swab, the Illinois-developed saliva test, called I-COVID, asks those tested to drool a small amount into a sterile test tube. The I-COVID test yields results in hours, even at high testing volumes: The U. of I. has performed more than 50,000 tests since making walk-up testing available to faculty members, staff and students in July, and expects to test up to 20,000 people a day when the fall semester begins Aug. 24.
