You are cordially invited to spend the entire weekend or just part of it with us. You will be welcomed.
We call ourselves Sages-in-Training. Gandhian scholar and author Michael Nagler of the Metta Center for
Nonviolence will be speaking with us Saturday afternoon but most of the time we will sharing and learning from one another.


With 2020 vision, CA Department of Peacebuilding leads and CA peacebuilders will gather for our annual
Sages-in-Training Retreat to share community, healing and collective wisdom.
We will gather on February 8 and February 9th starting at 9:30 am in Petaluma.

We hope each of you can be there all weekend, but you are welcome to stay whatever part of that you can.

Prior attendees and newcomers are welcome -- if you have not already confirmed you plan to attend, please do so to help us plan. If you have names/ contact information of others who might like to attend, let us know.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Theme - We Are the Ancestors
  • Dates/ Times- February 8, 2020, gather at 9:30 am (or before to help set up) for coffee. We will meet all day and eat lunch and dinner at the retreat. In the evening, we’ll do movie night. February 9, 2020, gather at 9:30 am for coffee. We’ll meet until mid or late afternoon and eat lunch at the retreat. We appreciate any help with clean up at the end of the day.
· Arrival Time For those who are coming some distance, please arrive in Petaluma or near there on Friday (February 7).

· Location & Directions - Thank you again to Kendra for hosting our retreat at the Leisure Lake mobile home park clubhouse, 300 Stony Point Road, Petaluma, CA 94952. For folks driving from the South, here is Kendra's description of how to get there: Take the 4th and northernmost Petaluma exit (Penngrove and Petaluma Blvd. North) off 101.
At the end of the ramp turn left across the overpass. After the overpass, get into the far right lane to turn right at the light onto Stony Point Rd. just past Henny Penny restaurant. Turn right onto Denman Rd. (the first road to the right). Then make an immediate right, then left into Leisure Lake mobile home park. The clubhouse is straight ahead.
Please park to the left of the clubhouse. We'll be meeting in the room off to the left after you enter the building.


LODGING

  • Lodging - For those who are coming some distance, please arrive in Petaluma or near there on Friday (February 7). See below for information on making reservations at the Petaluma Quality Inn. I'll leave it to each of you to make your own arrangements. Annie is willing to share a room -- if you want to connect with her, write to [email protected].
· Motel Information - Regarding motel space, we will share rooms at the Quality Inn Petaluma, 5100 Montero Way, Petaluma, CA 94954 (1-707-664-1155). We have stayed here before. It is close to the retreat location, reasonably-priced and they offer complimentary breakfast. As of 12/5/19, shared room for 2 beds/ 4 people = $129 per night.
One bed = $119 per night. Please make your reservations asap.


WHAT TO BRING
In addition to any music, instruments, videos, activities, games you are bring, please bring the following:
· Food - Please bring food and beverages to share throughout the weekend. This has worked well in the past.
· Altar Item - Bring some item that has meaning to you. This is to place on the altar (not to give away)
· Favorite Stick - If you have a favorite stick or piece of wood, please bring that.
Photos - Please bring one or more photos of your ancestors and relatives ... parents, grandparents, great grandparents, children, siblings, friends, people you want to include in the circle of our retreat. These can be copies of your photos.

· Quotes - Please bring one or more quotes to share.
· Potlatch Gifts - Please bring a gift. This can be anything you choose -- a poem, a story, a song, a book, a plant, or any other item.
