    Pesticide Banned- California (Press Democrat)

Pesticide linked to brain damage banned

Sales of chlorpyrifos, a widely used pesticide linked to brain damage in children, will be banned starting in February 2020 and farmers will have until the end of next year to use of the rest of their supplies. The pesticide is used on numerous crops in the nation's largest agriculture-producing state — including alfalfa, almonds, citrus, cotton, grapes and walnuts.

Thank YOU so much for posting this.

We are starting a campaign to ban Roundup in the wine country - we have the highest use of this toxic/cancer causing herbicide in California. It has been banned in many countries and regions.

Watch our short MUSICAL ad and spread the word www.roundupwine.com

And join us for some pesticide picnics to shed light on this critical issue.

That's some good news. Wish they would have gone a little further and forced the chemical companies to buy back what's left but.. I've been doing a performance for several years now about Rachel Carson who got DDT banned for use in this country back in the 60's largely because of her book SILENT SPRING. You can watch it on Youtube. Hopefully we'll get a Democrat for President next fall that will act on these matters the way JFK did back then. Lilith Rogers

Re: Pesticide Banned- California (Press Democrat)

I am glad that Chlorpyrifos has been banned. I grew up with nervous system abnormalities linked to this class of chemicals...

As to glyophosphate... aka Roundup.... I have mixed feelings about this at best. Much of the hype around it harkens back several decades- to Monsanto and the early days of widespread GMO's. As a former organic farmer, an "organic" cannabis grower, and someone who eats/lives mostly organically... I simply do not see the science to bash glyophosphate (or gmo's).

Despite the recent court ruling in CA- there is no evidence that glyophosphate, at normal exposure levels, causes cancer. Let's remember here- the IARC, which CA follows, listed glyophosphate as a "probable carcinogen". The IARC does not test substances for normal exposure...they test to see if there is *any* possible risk. The EU's other agency tasked with pesticides/herbicides.... found it was NOT a carcinogen at levels humans should be exposed to.

And what is the alternative? Glyophosphate breaks down quickly in the environment. Is one of the only herbicides "safe" to use around and in water ways and water bodies. The currently available and fully legal alternatives are far, far....far more toxic.

I have a hard time with this. I *want* to hate on it. But I know there is currently no organic alternative. I know it is far less toxic than any other chemical alternative. And I know it has greatly increased yields on numerous important crops - reducing land use, water use, fertilizer use, etc.

I've shortened your message to focus on some points.. What follows are notes from someone who knows the science and helps people learn. Unfortunately, glyphosate does not break down quickly - as Monsanto's talking point said. It was one of the many mis-leads. In agricultural areas where glyphosate has been used heavily, there are approximately 2 tons per every square mile sitting on top of soil in Florida, Mid West, and West...

It is one of several things that is contributing to global implosion of populations, and is implicated in rise of many chronic diseases, not only cancer - which decimates quality of life for many. Besides eating foods w/glyphosate or eating animals who eat plants w/ glyphosate, it is also sprayed in lawns, parks, around schools, roadsides and golf courses..... Glyphosate bioaccumulates in plants, in our bodies and in the soil.

It damages and destroys in several ways. It is a mineral chelator or grabber... It removes vital minerals so it reduces the nutrient content of food for us and animals. It is also a registered antibiotic. However, it works in a backwards fashion - it increases the strength, number, and virulence of bacteria that cause disease; and kills our good-guy bacteria. Pathogenic (illness-generating) bacteria cause inflammation throughout the digestive system. There are neurotransmitters made in gut that affect our mood, energy, etc.. that cannot be made when good-guy bacteria levels fall. Some of the neurotransmitters require certain amino acids found in protein.

Dr. Dana Stanley in Central Queensland University in Australia has done some really fascinating work with the gut microbiome. She has identified all the organisms with a new molecular technique and, then, she’s done the functional analysis to find out what’s missing in a person with a particular disease, for example, with type 1 diabetes. What organism stimulates the pancreas to produce the insulin? So if those organisms are missing, you are going to have diabetes. She has been able to fine-tune that process that we used to refer to as a fecal transplant, using a healthy person’s stool to recolonize a sick person.
    https://www.gutsybiotech.com/lab-members/
    http://thewellnesscouch.com/uc/uc-34...ns-and-animals

Dr. Stanley has done this for 17 diseases, everything from autism to inflammatory bowel, C. difficile diarrhea, etc -- with a 95% cure if you change the diet and get the glyphosate out. If not, the glyphosate is toxic to all of those organisms.

    Nancy Swanson's work:

    https://gmofreewashington.com/our-ex...nancy-swanson/
    http://www.biobased.us/Nancy%20Swans...0if%20GMO.html
    http://myfoodstuff.net/application/f...th_defects.pdf

What if the consumption of GMO crops - or - animals eating GMO crops were related to the rapid rise of these chronic diseases?

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), Obesity, Diabetes, Neurological disorders) – Autism, Alzheimers, Parkinsonism, Senile Dementia, Auti-Immune disorders: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease
(Ulcerative Colitis & Crohn’s Disease ), Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Certain cancers – e.g. Thyroid and Liver cancer.

Dr. Swanson then took the percentage of GMO corn and soy crops planted and the amount of Glyphosate (active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup) applied to corn and soy and plotted their RAPID EXPONENTIAL rise over time, and overlapped this data of # of GMO crops planted with the rise of chronic disease states. The consumption of GMO crops or consumption of animals consuming GMO crops were correlated with incidence of or deaths due to organ diseases, cancers, and neurological diseases.

All of the correlations were greater than 90%, with autism and senile dementia at 99%. Intestinal diseases were correlated with the number of acres of Bt corn planted. Again, the correlations are all approximately 95%.

Any food containing ingredients: Soy, Corn, Sugar (not labeled cane sugar), or Canola (or vegetable oil ) has been sprayed with Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide and/or has a built-in pesticide in every cell (Bt toxin).

By genetically modifying protein with Round-Up Ready crops there are anywhere from 20-200 proteins we don't know or recognize, science has no idea how they function in body, etc...

When it comes to allergies, we look to protein or peptides as triggers. Here we have 200 that we are clueless about.

There are 27 different cancers that are increased by glyphosate, if you look at those PLUS other diseases such as end-stage kidney failure, autism, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, there is a never-ending type of interaction in our many bodily systems affected by this chemical.

With genetic engineering, there are really two factors that need to be considered, and we haven't done that.
One is modifying plant so it doesn't die when directly sprayed with herbicide.. Toxin is in every cell of plant. It cannot be washed off. And we know that besides eliminating minerals in plants, glyphosate also chelates our minerals. These accumulate in often sharp clusters, which get stuck in kidney... leading to kidney damage and failure.

Two, glyphosate is a synthetic amino acid. That has two implications. It is a synthetic amino acid for glycine, which is an ESSENTIAL amino acid (we must get glycine from our food). There is evidence now that it can actually replace glycine in our proteins. For some proteins, glycine is 50% of that protein. It no longer functions the same way then and can cause protein folding. These may be part of prion diseases. There are EIGHT prion diseases that we know of now: Creutzfeldt-Jakob, Kuru etc.. all from misfolding of the protein - which now may be due to incorporation of this synthetic glycine amino acid that we call glyphosate or Round-Up herbicide.

It could also bring folding about by substituting the metallo part of our brain proteins by another element. Glyphosate has a strong stable metal chelating capacity for copper, which is in the metallo portion of brain proteins. It removes copper and then substitutes manganese. Copper has a 2-valent state; manganese has up to a 7-valent state so you can imagine the power of the folding action by switching those minerals. There are a number of other possible situations that glyphosate can cause....

E.g. in Alzheimers, or atherosclerosis, or rheumatism/arthritis where you have the tau protein building up. Having a mineral crystal forming like they show in science classes in middle school using copper sulfate; it can form beautiful blue crystals. Now, if the crystals are nanosize particles and they start crystallizing in a biological system, you no longer see that pretty structure of a crystal. It serves as a chelator, removing your amino acids and forms a protein sheet around those crystals and you build up tau protein to the point where the system collapses. Then you have toxic debris that does the damage, but it all starts with the mineral.

With all that is known, how is it that glyphosate is still allowed to be used?
Tremendous lobbying activity and it is a big money maker. The EMS shikamate is put into plants... $8 billion in royalties farmers pay to then directly use pesticides on crops. Another major use of glyphosate is as a desiccant - preharvest - farmers want to get crops in before all plants are ripe, or to avoid a big storm or seasonal change, etc.. Crop is killed all at once, but it gets in the whole plant because it is a systemic chemical. At the late stage of plant growth (right before harvest), the only place it can go is right into the plant reproductive structure, which is what we eat for food.

It makes sense to see if you need detoxing:
Detox Project is tied in with the Abraxis Company that makes a serological test: https://detoxproject.org/
    https://detoxproject.org/abraxis-terms-and-conditions/

Abraxis has come up w/two tests that are $79. So it is certainly within most people’s budget. It is critically important to know what your level of glyphosate is, because it bioaccumulates. It is in the brain, in the bone, bone marrow, all of your organs: liver, kidney, heart, pancreas, lungs, and also in all other tissues. It is a systemic chemical, highly water soluble, and as mentioned - a very powerful chelator as well as antibiotic. It is important to know where you stand. If you have a high level in urine you will need to detox.

Some of the food products shown to degrade glyphosate (so body can eliminate it) are raw sauerkraut juice - it takes pretty good intestinal fortitude to drink it. Raw apple cider vinegar. It is the Acetobacter organism that does the fermenting for sauerkraut and apple cider vinegar. You’d probably find it in a lot of the other fermented products. It is one of the few organisms that can degrade glyphosate in the gut - all the way down to carbon dioxide and water and phosphorus.

First step would be to see whether you need to detox. It is cheap and easy enough now. In addition to Detox Project, Health Research Institute - HRI Laboratories in Fairfield Iowa has a special kit for @ $100. https://health-research-institute.net/glyphosate/

They’ll analyze both for the glyphosate and the AMPA, the main metabolite of glyphosate, at no extra cost. (they don't test if you live in NY; and if anyone lives in Canada or Australia they have separate links - you must pay return postage) (In addition to testing urine, they also test hair, well water - each test has a separate kit))

Censorship is 'purging' much information from internet... and targeting people trying to get information out.
If people are interested in collusion between gov and industry, the Monsanto Papers is a good place to go.

If interested in genetic engineering, see Steve Drucker’s book; it took him 8 years to document his findings:

    https://wellnessforce.com/whats-maki...ichelle-perro/
    https://www.westonaprice.org/book-re...incanne-adams/

Carey Gillim’s book: White Wash - exposes a lot of the collusion that has gone on. It actually violates 3 of the 6 principles of our law for pesticide registration. Industry claims it is safe; data has been hidden from public, etc. https://careygillam.com/book

Another good thing from the (California non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) lawsuits is that a lot more information about industry and product has been made available. It took 20 - 30 years for tobacco, we’ve already seen 30 years of continuously increasing diseases and we don’t have 30 years left.

While the whole issue of push for lab-grown protein (meat substitute) is a separate topic; given information about glyphosate and proteins, it makes me wonder about how lab-grown protein compares w/that of healthy animals, what are the amino acid contents - are there enough of the essential amino acids - and enough for repair of wear-and-tear of all cells in body and for making neurotransmitters.

I'm in deep agreement with you on the issue of glyphosate but wish to enlarge a bit on lab-grown meat. Our present system of animal-based protein production is injurious, first to the animals bred to slaughter, next to our planet where animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of the climate crisis, then to our own health, and finally to the children going hungry to bed. Your query is worthy - PeTA, who offered $1m to the first lab to come up with such a breakthrough, has not yet paid out - and I would think basic nutritional needs such as you stipulate would have to be part of this.

Re: Pesticide Banned- California (Press Democrat)

I am concerned about CO2 climate change theory being linked to animal-based food production. The sheer amount of methane being released is mainly due to two sources: fracking (the sheer amount from one site alone was only recently discovered by satellite images) and to modification of arctic (perhaps other areas as well) (there are articles about geoengineering that discuss this) to clear ice for shipping lanes/ development/etc. The methane being released all around the arctic has come from methane stored in the now-melting permafrost. This, then, gets blamed on bovines and other food sources.

I totally agree that CAFO (concentrated animal feeding operations) food raising methods would best be transitioned to regenerative methods that includes soil in the regenerative process, etc... Many farmers are having great success w/this and helping one another. And there are indications that there are agendas afoot...
not only corporate-sponsored "green new deal"... Some articles:

New York Times: Methane Leak, Seen From Space, Proves One of Largest in History - Ohio fracking site

Daily Kos: Thousands of underground gas bulges, formed by thawing permafrost, set to 'explode' in Siberia

Guardian: Arctic stronghold of world's seeds - not so strong - floods after permafrost melts

GLOBAL FOOD RATIONING - global infrastructure for land and food use has been in place for years.. without our knowledge.. and is being rolled out now. Good to be informed.

Re: Pesticide Banned- California (Press Democrat)

Hate to just post article links, but that is where good info is... This article reveals much between the lines... I believe we can safely say that some of the proponents of a plant-based diet are at war w/current paradigm, play dirty, etc.. regardless of best of intentions on part of others also advocating change.

The urgency and amount of $$$ and resources used to either defeat or override actual science is rather astounding and should serve as a red flag to us all. We need more information and this and other links may help bring balance and, hopefully, freedom to make informed choices.

Backlash over meat dietary recommendations raises questions about corporate ties to nutrition scientists

Additionally, Chris Kresser writes about methane issue from The Game Changers - and that doesn't even take into account aforementioned methane releases from fracking/geoengineering which release exponentially more methane.
The Game Changers, a recent film that advocates for a plant-based diet... quote:

“The livestock sector is responsible for 15 percent of global man-made emissions. So, to put that in perspective, that’s about the same as all the emissions from all the forms of transport in the world, all the planes, trains, cars, vans and ships all added up.”

This 15 percent claim comes from commonly cited statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which found that GHG emissions from cattle are 14.5 percent compared to 14 percent for the entire transportation sector.

However, these statistics are misleading, because the FAO compared a full life cycle analysis (LCA) for livestock with only direct (aka “tailpipe”) emissions from transportation.

An LCA considers the environmental impact of a product through its entire life cycle, which includes everything from extraction and processing of the raw materials, to manufacturing, distribution, use, recycling, and waste disposal.

For livestock, that would include not just the methane emitted by burping cows, but also the carbon needed for feed, transport, and processing.

For transportation, it would include not just the gases emitted by cars, trucks, planes, and other vehicles, but also the inputs required for making the fuel (feedstock production and distribution, fuel production and distribution, and final use of the fuel).

It is ridiculous to compare the full LCA of livestock with only the direct/tailpipe emissions for transportation —yet that’s exactly what often happens.

The senior author of the FAO report that was initially responsible for these misleading statistics has since admitted his error. Unfortunately, few people are aware of this, and the numbers from that initial report have been repeated so often that most people just assume they are true.
    ....
Research has shown (https://academic.oup.com/jas/article/96/4/1519/4833918 ) that holistically managed, regenerative beef operations not only don’t contribute to GHG emissions, they actually sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

So, as is often the case, the claims you hear in the media can’t be taken at face value. You have to dig a little deeper to get to the truth.
