Local educators far and near - are you or someone you know looking for a teaching position somewhere that emphasizes nature, kindness, and the joy of play in childhood? Are you hoping to find somewhere to build your teaching skills, connect with a wonderful community, and spend lots of time outside?
Well, you are in luck my friend – because we are hiring! This position will start in August, with some training possible in the summer.
We are seeking a new teacher at our Creekside Campus, which serves children ages 3-5 in a nature-based setting. Must be enthusiastic about the outdoors, young children, and have a joyful spirit. Must have at least 12 ECE core units. Some experience is desired (but not necessary for the right person). This is a great entry level position for students who are working through their units and looking for experience – but it really would work for any educator who is passionate about what they do.

About us: We are a 501c3 non-profit organization with a low student/teacher ratio, based in Sebastopol for 25+ years. Our focus is on play and nature based learning, often outdoors, rain or shine! We have many community gatherings, and delight in getting to know our teachers, parents, and of course, children. In our staff we value honesty, kindness, reliability, and enthusiastic energy. We practice positive discipline and peaceful communication with our co-teachers, children, and community.

About the position: Monday – Friday, 30+ hours a week. Some flexibility possible for students taking classes, if needed. Teacher will be responsible for: helping plan emergent, interest-based curriculum, assisting on our Adventure Day Program (in all types of weather), writing monthly for our newsletter, documenting children’s explorations with pictures and notes, leading aftercare some afternoons, supervising parent helpers in the classroom, attending bi-weekly staff meetings, and helping to keep an organized and merry classroom space.

Pay is DOE, beginning at $17/hr., with regular increases, paid holidays, vacation time, and sick leave. We regret that we are not able to offer medical benefits at this time.
