REMINDER: Please fill out and share the city's bike & pedestrian survey by Monday, April 16.

One link is for the general bike & pedestrian survey. The other is specifically for the proposed bike & pedestrian bridge between Coddingtown and the JC. The third (red) survey is an interactive map where you can mark a location on the map, and then add a comment to it. The deadline is Monday, April 16.

It's a great way to help get people out of their cars!

Hi folks,

Last night I attended the public meeting about the bike & pedestrian bridge to connect Coddingtown and the SMART train station on the west side of 101 and the JC on the east side. They talked about the two possible locations of the proposed bike & pedestrian bridge:

1) Elliott Ave & Edwards Ave.

2) Bear Cub Way

They talked about the advantages and disadvantages of both pathways. It sounds like they would have an much simpler time logistically building the bridge at Bear Cub Way and running to a residential neighborhood on the other side. But my vote is definitely for the Elliott Ave & Edwards Ave location for the bike & pedestrian bridge. It's far more convenient for errands on either side of 101. And with all the evening classes at the JC, there will be more people around at night, and it will be safer. I would never use the Bear Cub Way path after dark.

I suggested the Dutch protected intersection for the intersection at Steele Lane & 101, and the engineer acknowledged that the intersection at Steele Lane & 101 is one of the two busiest intersections in the city.

If you haven't seen the video, watch the video on this page to see how Dutch protected intersections work:

Please note that the bridge survey asks a lot of the same questions that are on the city's general Santa Rosa Bike and Pedestrian Plan survey. To get to the city's general Bike & Pedestrian Plan survey, go to this page, scroll down and click the big blue Online Survey button on the right:

There's also a red button on this page for the Interactive Map, where you can mark the locations you want to comment on, and add a note or comment.

They will have another big public meeting to ask for input, but I don't know when. Or you can attend any of the meetings of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board:
