    Need referral for window retro-fit

    Location:  Santa Rosa/Sonoma County
    Hi Folks
I live in an older home and the mechanism for one of my windows is mal-functioning. I was told by a repairman (who couldn't fix it) that I needed to find someone who could do a retro-fit, and that it's a double hung, single pane window, sashes are not working properly (weights and pulleys).
Any recommendations? Someone told me it might be less expensive to have a new window put in (they had not seen it to evaluate). Thanks!

I would suggest you google "double hung window repair" which will link you to a large number of web pages and videos showing how to diagnose and repair your window. When you have watched several videos you will know if this is something you could tackle yourself, or, if not, you will know if a handyperson knows what he or she is talking about. Knowledge is power.
