    Documentary: Being Mortal

    Documentary: Being Mortal
    Thursday, April 21 at 1 p.m.

Join us at Rialto Cinemas for a free screening of "Being Mortal," a PBS Frontline documentary released in 2014 in conjunction with the book by the same name.

The film follows renowned New Yorker magazine writer and Boston surgeon Atul Gawande as he explores the relationships doctors have with patients who are nearing the end of life. Gawande's book, "Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End," investigates the practice of caring for the dying, and shows how doctors -- himself included -- are often remarkably untrained, ill-suited and uncomfortable talking about chronic illness and death with their patients.

This event is hosted by the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, West County Health Centers and Rialto Cinemas, located at 6868 McKinley Street in Sebastopol. For more information, contact the Senior Center at 707-829-2440.
