Here are the petition and its background:
TO: US SENATE & US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Dear Legislators: Please enact a bill barring barring import of products created using enslaved children as labor. This will include most of the chocolate currently sold in the US and will get Hershey, Nestle, Ghirardelli, etc., to tell their vendors in Africa, "Every few cacao plantations need to get together and invest in a cherry-picker, so that you don't need lightweight humans to harvest from the upper limbs. We can't use slave products."
Why is this important?
Men go around Africa kidnapping young (say, four-year-old) children to abuse severely, by means up to and sometimes including rape by adult-sized men, until they're so broken down they make docile slaves. Then they sell them to cacao plantation owners to climb into the weak upper limbs of cacao trees and harvest the cacao beans growing there. When they grow enough to be too heavy for that work, they're abandoned--hundreds of miles from anyone they know, non-literate and with no salable skills.
