Are you a low income and or disabled Veteran? Receiving Veteran's Pension? You could.

I just attended a meeting with a 30 year community resources volunteer, and learned about little known benefits for veterans who served in any wartime period. (Even if only 1 day) You are probably eligible for a "pension" In addition, you could receive free medical treatment in addition to any health insurance you might have. Eyeglasses, hearing aids, dental work, are some of the benefits you may be entitled to, and not know about. Also, transportation and in home care. Too many things to list here. If you have ALS or Parkinsons, and aren't receiving Veteran's benefits related to these illnesses, you're missing out.

Make an appointment to see a VA counselor at 3725 Westwind in Santa Rosa:

The Sonoma County Veterans Service Office is a unit of the County of Sonoma, Human Services Department, Adult and Aging Services Division. The county Veterans Service Office program was established in Sonoma County in 1944 to provide assistance to veterans and their families. We are not part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (“The VA”). We are a county agency dedicated to serving veterans and their families. We are knowledgeable about the huge array of programs, benefits and services that are available today.
A Note from the Veterans Service Officer:

Unfortunately, many Veterans and their dependents are unaware of services and benefits available to them based on their service to our nation. Often a client will visit our office for assistance with one issue and discover during an in-depth interview that there are other issues to be addressed and other potential benefits they are eligible for. Our goal is to ensure that every client has access to all benefits they have earned through their service to our nation. I and the Veteran Service Office staff are here to provide Veteran benefit information, claims assistance and referral to other pertinent community services to veterans and their families. Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. From 8:30 to 9:45, we see clients on a drop in basis (please arrive before 9:15 to ensure that we have time to see you before we start seeing our scheduled appointments). From 10:00 - 5:00 we see clients by appointment only. Please call (707) 565-5960 to schedule an appointment.
