My partner and I are looking into designing an Ideabox home and was hoping to find someone local (within a three hour radius) who has already built one. We would love to come visit if you are open, or at least, give us an honest review of your home.

We were up in Salem last week to take a look at Ideabox. [See what an ideabox is here ~ Barry]

They are very cool, though after you add the transportation, set-up and contractor fees the price can get up to $170K for the Aktiv. BUT, because its a modular home, there are no issues as with a "tiny" house or park RV-style house.

Our take was that they are very well thought out, beautiful to look at and made with as much "green" consciousness as they can. I wish we could afford one, but after you buy the land, it is just too much money for folks not already neck deep in the Wine Country Lifestyle™. But if you wanted to put one somewhere else, it might be "affordable".

I'd say call them and ask if there's one in NorCal. I think I remember them saying there's one on a Napa winery somewhere.
