Hand Percussionist sought for The Story Orchestra for San Francisco Bay Area performances of “The Story Brother Sun Sister Moon” which features the music of Donovan. Looking for a Percussionist versed in the styles of African, or Arabic, Medieval, Folk, Celtic, and Rock music and playing Djembe or Doumbek or another lead type drum, as well as Frame Drum and metal or wood type of instruments. This position is for one of two percussionists in the group. The other percussionist is Indian in style and plays Tabla. “The Story Brother Sun Sister Moon” is a theatrical collage of prose, poetry, songs, chants and dance from many cultures and many eras. It is about an individual who becomes aware and changes his life to live what is Good. The main figure in this piece is St. Francis, though this is not meant as a church, nor religious work. We are performing the second series of performances in October after a very successful premier run in June. Pay will be based upon profit after expenses (expenses are minimal.) Percussionist must be sensitive to playing with spoken text and none amplified instruments. Rehearsals will be in Rohnert Park / Santa Rosa area.
