McKinley School Pollinator Habitat Installation
Help create a living, eco-freindly outdoor classroom for McKinley School!
Join Daily Acts, Rebuilding Together, and the City of Petaluma as we transform an underutilized lawn at McKinley School into a native, pollinator friendly habitat! We're building a garden where students can do schoolwork, learn about a variety of native plants, and enjoy the healthy yields of the fruit trees.
The day will begin by sheet mulching the area in order to help slow, spread, sink and store water in the garden, and avoid evaporation. Volunteers will also help to plant various species of plants, and install drip irrigation throughout the garden. This will be a very hands-on work day, and we are very grateful for all of the help we are able to get. One way that we will show our gratitude will be with afree potluck lunch for everyone to enjoy! Please invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us and become a part of this amazing community effort, while we work towards inspiring the next generation to expand their appreciation for the environment.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Please be sure to register online and help us get a sense of how much food to provide. Hope to see you there!
