Help Save the Rio Theater Benefit
The historical Rio theater in Monte Rio, one of only nine Quonset hut movie venues in the country is in danger of closing.
Big studios have announced that by the end of 2013, they will no longer distribute movies on 35mm film. To remain in operation, all theaters must convert to digital projection. The cost of conversion, however is prohibitive to many small independent theaters, and as a result many are closing their doors. To raise the $60,000 cost of the conversion for the Rio theater, local supporters are planning to launch an online campaign on Kickstarter.com.
On March 10th,to celebrate our campaign kickoff, we will host a benefit mixer on the deck of Don's Dog's (behind the theater).
