CO-CREATION: Fifty Years in the Making

In the course of their fifty years of marriage, Conrad Bishop & Elizabeth Fuller have collaborated as performers, playwrights, radio producers and puppeteers in bringing hundreds of stories to thousands of audiences. Now they wrestle with telling their own story — a chronicle of play-making, parenting, uprootings, successes and major failures, polyamory, spiritual searching, dancing naked around bonfires, strict accounting practices, and perpetual improvisation.
To launch their new memoir, CO-CREATION: FIFTY YEARS IN THE MAKING, they will host a free book-launch reading and party at the Sebastopol Masonic Center, reception at 3:00 pm, reading at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 14th.
You can read excerpts and order online.
The memoir traces their path from fiery undergraduates to an intended career in academic theatre, then lurching into founding a professional ensemble. They launched into ten years of heavy national touring, their two children growing up in the back of their Dodge van, then into residences in Chicago, Lancaster, PA, and Philadelphia, as well as independent playwriting, before their move west.
"It's also about the process of collaboration," Fuller says. "How do you blend your own talents and two very, very different temperaments, and get something that works. You have to do that whether you're writing a play or working the family farm."
On August 14th, they will read selections from CO-CREATION, and a book signing will follow. Wine and snacks will be available, and potluck drinks and finger-food are encouraged. The Masonic Center is located at 373 North Main St. in Sebastopol. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling 707-824-4307 or emailing [email protected].
