May 1st "Workers in Solidarity" Santa Rosa March & Rally
'Workers in Solidarity' March and Rally in Santa Rosa
Sunday, May 1st, 1:00 pm - International Workers Day
As energy spreads across the country to support workers’ right to organize and have decent wages and healthy families, the May 1st Coalition of Sonoma County invites the public to come march and celebrate May Day in Santa Rosa, Sunday, May 1st.
We call on the diverse sectors of our county to participate in support of all working people that produce the incredible wealth of Sonoma County and keep the economy of our country running. This is an opportunity for unions, environmentalists, churches, teachers, students and immigrants to come together and demonstrate solidarity as working men and women.
A rally at 665 Sebastopol Road, Santa Rosa (Dollar Tree parking lot near Dutton), will begin 1:00 pm, with speakers representing local unions, faith based community, social justice, immigrants rights and environmental organizations. The march will proceed through downtown Santa Rosa to Juilliard Park for a community family picnic with music and entertainment.

IF YOU’RE SATISFIED WITH THE CUTS in education, health care, basic human needs services and the rights of working people, etc., then don’t participate in the May 1st Workers in Solidarity march & rally in Santa Rosa.
But if you understand the reason why people are raising their voices around the world for basic human rights and control of their destiny, then come out to create a critical mass to show that you care about creating a healthy community that is not controlled by Corporate profiteers.
Don’t take your comforts for granted.
Excerpt from a much repeated piece by Pastor Martin Niemoller: “…they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist… Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.” Niemöller was imprisoned in Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps from 1937 to 1945.
They’ve come for Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan… Tens of thousands joined in the streets to say ENOUGH! Half million in the streets of London demanding to stop CUTS… People risking their lives in North Africa, Middle East, Latin America…
What will it take for the rest of US citizens to mobilize and demand true democracy — government of, by, and for the people?
