    Sweat Your Prayers is an open dance floor
    with world-based music,
    focused within the 5Rhythms,
    designed to give you, the dancer,
    the opportunity to discover and deepen your awareness
    of your own personal experience and perhaps free the mind for a short
    while of it's endless stories and the stories around us
    while you practice listening to your body.

    The 5Rhythm wave flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness is
    designed to assist and catalyze you inward toward this beautiful
    experience of Self.

    As we connect deeper with the rhythms
    they in turn help us connect
    into the feminine ways of the body through flowing,

    "Flowing is the rhythm of discovery. It is a state of being in which we discover the availability of our own unique field of energy. Flowing is about being grounded and centered, feeling the natural energetic direction and being able to move with it rather than resisting and pushing against it."

    the masculine ways of the body through staccato,

    "Staccato is about doing! It is about being in action, not just talking or thinking about it. This is the rhythm of defining and delivering. We define our boundaries, focus and direct our energy, deliver our communications, and produce results in this rhythm. It is a fiery, passionate energy that comes from the heart. The energy is focused on the out-breath and moves in lines rather than circles. Staccato builds on the lessons of flow and brings all of our attention and focus to the present, where past and future disappear in the passion of the moment."

    the wild-child of the dancing mind through Chaos,

    " Chaos is the collision of flowing and staccato energy. Chaos derives from the Greek word khaos, meaning empty space or abyss. This condition of emptiness provides a blank canvas for creation, where contraries dissolve and we disappear into the realm of pure creativity. Gabrielle Roth describes it as, "the gateway to the intuitive mind, the part of us that holds the key to our destiny, our purpose, our contribution, our presence, and our individuality."
    This rhythm is about accessing the intuitive center and letting the linear, rational way of thinking go. Chaos is about releasing the points of stuck energy in our lives and bodies. It is the rhythm of surrender and acceptance, which allows for an intense state of presence and clarity."

    the balance of the soul-being.. Lyrical

    "Lyrical is the energy of self-acceptance that actualizes in the aftermath of chaos. It manifests as a light, airy and flexible quality, expressing feelings of enthusiasm and playfulness. It is the process of lightening up after letting go of the thousand things that weigh us down"

    and the Dance of Spirit within Stillness.

    "In stillness we return home to the place where everything waits. It is a place with little or no commotion or agitation. It is tranquil, calm, serene. It is pure and conscious movement. It is being a clear witness - becoming the breath - entering a state of total presence and emptiness! This is a place without strategy, agitation, agenda, or mental chatter."

    We all have our own dance and each time you come to the dance floor
    your experience is unique. There are no dance steps to learn... only
    your own. No one is too old, or young, or too fat or too clumsy to
    move. If you have an injury what better time to come and gently move
    into other parts of your body to help inform/assist the whole body
    IN-TO healing.

    See you on the dance floor!

    lots of love to all
    I am sorry I cannot be there this month.. still captured in Mexico

    Santa Rosa Contra dance 8pm

    FRI 4/18 - Santa Rosa Contra dance
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    8:00-11 pm; lesson at 7:30.
    Monroe Hall, 1400 W. College Ave, Santa Rosa.
    $8-$10; discounts for children/students.
    INFO: www.nbcds.org or (707) 527-9794.
    Caller: Warren Blier, with Live Music by The Opportunists - Alan Snyder (fiddle, piano), Topher Gayle, (mandolin, bass, percussion) and David Hansen (guitar).
    Contra dances are fun, friendly and inclusive. All dances are taught
    and prompted, and feature live music. The cousin to square and English country dancing, contra is a form of couples’ folk dance that emphasizes pattern, flow and rhythm. Simpler dances earlier in the evening, snacks at the break, and then more complex contras later in the evening - a great workout for the mind, heart, and body!
    New dancers - please come early for an orientation and simpler dances. If you can walk, you can do this...no experience is necessary. Come alone or with another. Wear comfortable clothes and low, smooth-soled, comfortable shoes.
    The live music features fantastic fiddle tunes, driving Celtic
    rhythms, Cajun, old-timey and whatever else the band gets charged up
    with.
    (Scent-free dancing appreciated. Parents please note: all non–dancing children must be supervised.)
    Sponsored by the North Bay Country Dance Society—promoting and producing American and English folk and ritual dancing, music and song in the Wine Country – just north of San Francisco.
