No you are not missing something, and bonus points for doing so. Here's what happened:

Post #8's image was posted as a direct reference to the image stored on the Economist's website as their "current cover" so when they changed the image at that location to the next issue's cover, the image displayed on WaccoBB.net also changed.

I have gone back and replaced post #8's image to what I originally posted, using a fixed link. And this time when I posted the current cover, I also posted it using a fixed link.
