Dear community,
AnnMarie G. and I did an interview on KBBF bilingual radio regarding www.onebillionrising.org, and addressed the movement as a whole, as well as some local details. The station had technical difficulties and couldn't air it at the time, but will be airing it and a short promotion multiple times throughout the next two weeks. Below is a link to it. AnnMarie answers questions in English, and I answer in Spanish.

Last Wednesday, 11 women met in a coffee shop and created the basic framework for our Santa Rosa flash mob action.
One of those women, Kathy Johnson, will be talking live on the radio at 11:15 am today during the women's spaces show at KBBF 89.1 FM for 15 minutes.
In case you can't catch that interview and/or can't open the above link, here are a few more details:
Everyone is invited to gather in Old Courthouse square at 5 pm on Valentines day. please wear black, pink and/or red, and be prepared to walk for a few minutes to a very nearby spot where we will perform our dance.
We are organizing this together with our Spanish speaking community (undocumented Spanish speaking women experiencing violence and oppression are in a doubly difficult situation in our country, as they face deportation and being separated from their children if they report to the police) and will subsequently dance to "Romper Las Cadenas" as well as "Break the Chains". Those who are not dancing, are encouraged to make a giant half circle around the women and girls who are dancing, and sing along with the recording to the songs in English and/or Spanish.
We are encouraging visual aids (to be held by men and women forming the half circle around the dancers) such as the following:
posters with the lyrics to the song
posters with anything that springs from your heart
artwork on the theme of rising up
In addition to the rehearsals AnnMarie has previously posted, we are having one on Feb. 10 at 10 am at 756 Humboldt street (outside of the elementary school), between College and Benton st.
wish list:
we would love to borrow a simple, portable sound system so that the music and lyrics can be heard in a crowd.
we would love to have someone (or some people) film this action.
Thanks for reading this. I hope to be rising up, in one way or another, with all of you on the 14th.
