    Town Hall Notes: How Can The Movement Maintain Its Focus

    [These are notes from one of the break out groups at the January 9th, 2012 Occupy Sonoma County Town Hall meeting in Sebastopol. You are welcome to reply publicly or contact a group representative by emailing the contact listing below rather than Reply Privately. Thanks! -Barry]

    TOPIC: HOW CAN THE MOVEMENT MAINTAIN ITS FOCUS

    We each have our favorite issues or causes, and these are not likely to form a solid basis for a broad-based consensus;

    We may be able to reach a broad-based consensus by focusing on basic values that should prevail in our society;

    We need to achieve ever widening circles of consensus;

    Democrasoft is a Santa Rosa company that has developed collaborative software that may be very useful in this consensus building process, and the company offered to make this software available at no cost to the Occupy Movement;

    We need to reach a large number of people;

    We need to use the real power of the 99% effectively and in a very focused way; and

    We need to reach for big fundamental change.
