the Californians for a Fair Settlement coalition sent a letter to Attorney General Kamala Harris, letting her know that we would have her back if she kept fighting for Californians abused by the Big Banks. We laid out clear terms that need to be included in any settlement, and the Attorney General listened.

She sent one of her senior staff members, Shum Preston, to meet with our delegation, which featured representatives from the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, the Ella Baker Center, and Causa Justa :: Just Cause. (See the photo on the right and the full gallery here.) We delivered your letter, and Donna Vieira, a San Leandro homeowner and a victim of foreclosure at the hands of Wells Fargo, spoke for millions of Californians as she said: "We live in the same country. We should live by the same rules. We urge the Attorney General to properly investigate, assess damages, prosecute where appropriate, and then reach a fair settlement for Californians."

The Courage Campaign is continuing to strategize with allies on how best to keep up the pressure and make the Big Banks pay for their crimes. Justice in America can't have separate rules for the 1%.

If you support Courage's efforts and could afford to give $5, $10, or $20, please help support our tiny staff -- less than 9 full-time members who work without an office -- and fight for you day and night, seven days a week.

Yours in the fight for economic justice,

Eddie Kurtz, Director of California Campaigns
