Occupy Santa Rosa General Assembly is saddened that the city manager didn’t work with us to formulate this new version of the camping permit… It is nothing like the permit that we poured our hearts out for at City Council 4 days ago… It is also not in line with the ordinance that council members voted into being at Thursday night’s City Council meeting… Our negotiating team put in a total of 300-400 hours in working with the city, and not only have our suggestions been absolutely disregarded, but they’ve added more restrictions, and given them to us less than 24 hours before we are supposed to officially sign the permits… The two unacceptable parameters are as follows:
1. Our rights and our family’s rights to safety and privacy are in jeopardy through the public display of our picture, full name, and address on the outside of our tents… Anybody who has an issue with the movement can walk by and find out everything about Occupiers…
2. The number of permits allowed have been halved from the permit draft that we negotiated for on Thursday night… The tent permits available have been drastically reduced from 100 to 51… There are no fire or safety hazards associated with our tents being in 5′ aisles as was previously proposed by the city manager… We believe this, and other restrictions to be a ploy to create division within our group, and frankly, it’s NOT going to work…
We have come to conclusion that this is NOT a permit issue… It never HAS been… And we will continue to move forward, drawing attention to economic injustices, and gaining support from the rest of the 99%!!!

Come meet us tonight at 7 pm, 30 minutes before the march, to support those Occupations that have been raided, including OWS. The march is itself in support of our brothers and sisters who are now in difficult situations.
Thank you,
Occupy Santa Rosa
