City of Sebastopol Mural Project

The next time you walk down Edman Way, take notice of the long concrete retaining wall of the municipal parking lot. Wouldn't it be beautiful if there was a mural adorning that wall? We agree, so the city is sponsoring a mural project. Applications are available at City Hall, the Art Center or by contacting [email protected]. The artist whose design is selected will be awarded $2500. We hope this might be the first of more murals around the city, because they create interest in the urban landscape and reflect Sebastopol's identity with the art community. Entries must be received by April 15, and the installation should be completed by the end of 2011. I am looking forward to seeing an interesting design brightening that much travelled area.

Speaking of art, this weekend enjoy the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. There are films being presented from several countries which makes it an international event!
