Friends--

The Independent Eye is opening our new show HANDS UP! this coming weekend at the Subud Center in Sebastopol, Friday & Saturday Oct. 15-16. We're also playing Friday, Oct. 29, at Occidental Center for the Arts. All shows at 8 p.m.

For all shows, we're in desperate need for people to operate our camcorder. It's a no-budget labor of love, but we need to tape each performance in order to edit a decent DVD for potential festival gigs. For that we need good-quality video, but all our volunteer sources are otherwise engaged.

Of course we'd love to have a skilled professional or at least someone with experience, but if you're (a) not totally terrified of a camcorder, (b) feel you have a good instinct for following the action and framing a shot, and (c) will definitely show up -- then we'd love to talk with you about shooting one of the shows. You'd be using our camcorder, which is good quality but not complicated. We can offer two comps, a copy of the dvd, and a huge surge of gratitude.

HANDS UP! is a medley of nine comic/dramatic sketches about mortality, from the farcical to the grim, featuring 30 puppets, 2 actors, and, I think, a real richness of human spirit -- I'm biased, of course, being one of the writer/actor duo. If you saw our Descent of the Goddess Inanna, Rash Acts, or The Tempest, well, that's us. Check us out on The Independent Eye website.

And if you're interested and possibly available, email us at [email protected].

Peace & joy--
