Hey Community,
Please see my post on WaccoReader: Congresswoman Lee introduces bill to repeal Congress' blank check on wars.
Here below is what I got from Woolsey's office. Please consider taking all needed actions in the original post. The only way we got out of Viet Nam was when Christopher Dodd moved to end the funding. Have you seen the DVD on the Pentagon Papers "The Most Dangerous Man in America"? We need that kind of brave action from everyone now.
This bill intends to restore adherence to the Constitution for Congress to declare war first, before we send our military into action. Every war since WWII has been a "work around" the Constitution. The current strike first policy put into place by Bush, and continued by Obama is financially and morally bankrupting our country. Each of you holds the key, by acting as lobbyist for our greater good.
Nothing will change if we fail to unite on this:
AmericaCARE NOT WARfare
Now that Rahm Emanuel has left the White House, perhaps Obama can act on his conscience. PLEASE work as often as you can to persuade him, and all your elected officials, even the local ones, to support the bill that Lee and Woolsey are putting forward.
If it dies in committee, as Lee's staff expects it to, so dies our hope of ending unconstitutional war; how much more blood on our hands can we take before this country collapses like the USSR? How many more innocent people will die? Our enemies will never stop hating us, and wanting to hurt us as long as we do unto them, as they are doing unto us.
Please help me lead a better way forward; the next generations deserve our commitment to peace to be seen through our actions.
Much thanks,
Colleen Fernald
