Al Gore: "We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change"

Al Gore is stating the obvious so that those who are not dialed into a responsible attitude will start to listen: "We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change."

    Op-Ed Contributor - We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change - NYTimes.com

Conservatives, Republicans and other permutations of reactionaries (Independents, Libertarians, "Ron Paulers," etc) fear the possibility of death through Climate Change. Also, largely because American reactionaries in general are very religious people, the only "end of the world" that is possible can only be found in the bible or from whatever their local priest, pastor, reverend, etc, tells them it shall be. So for some "goofy" scientist or "liberal" like Al Gore to come along and tell them that the end of the world is possible through Climate Change is also an indirect attack on their religious faith, which the Right Wing takes great umbrage to. And to not react spastically, as they do, is tantamount to not taking their own religious faith seriously.

Climate Change deniers are very strongly motivated not only for political reasons but also for religious reasons as well. Religion is a serious problem in the United States; it is also behind the intense knee-jerk opposition to same-sex marriage.
