Thank you so much for this info! I got more info by watching videos from ABC7 investigative team who discovered this, also found pesticides in whole foods "organic" ginger from China (now pulled from shelves). This is unreal! We need to be vigilant about knowing where our food is coming from. Shame on Whole Foods!!!!
I wish people would realize that you can certify total garbage as being organic. Our local, state and national laws can now be trumped by the new laws of The World Trade Organization, World Courts and Codex Alimentarius. Multinational agribusiness has a vested interest in exploiting organic as a brand name not as an ideology for sustainability and health.
I love that Laguna Farm doesn't have an organic certification, they are "Beyond Organic". You don't need Quality Assured International to rubber stamp the vegetables because you can walk the fields and talk to the farmer who grew it.
If you really want to twist your noodle watch this video.

Not surprised;
Love whole foods, and hate the coorporation!
The other 3/4 of your "off season" Organic food is from MEXICO
you think that's all good? obviosly, you never lived in Mexico
a hit and run and speeding ticket as about 100 bucks'
I'd say the organic cert is around 500 to a thousand
and they use native American labor
(yes Mexican Indians are also "Native Americans") who they
herd around in busses with guys with guns.Not sure why they need the guns, but they don't allow photographers.

I gotta say, when I think of certified organic from Mexico, I think of the system of police/drug world/payoff that seems to be rather rampant down thata way. Without being judgemental of that system, I still have to wonder how accurate any system of "organic certification" would be in such an environment? Am I overly cynical or do you have the same thought? Curious.

If unsafe corrupt food practices are happening right here in the US of A, what do you think about Mexico? hmmmmm
