It’s been several months now since the heartless Cowknapping of KOWSFM’s lovely Mooonbeam (see picture), a loss which saddened those herd members among us who dearly loved her. Some of us have never recovered and the identity of the blackguard who carried her off and why still remains a moostery. Access to KOWSfm’s Oxidental studio is virtually limited, and it’s obvious it must have been an inside job. Pictures of a kidnapped cow on a milk carton is costly as well as ironic, and pictures of her happy, albeit rigid countenance only serve to remind us the thief is still out there.
She was my baby and I'd still like her welcoming face returned safely. Stewards of the Land, don’t forget to lock your barn (and studio) doors at night (for all the good it does!)
The following is a little tribute to Mooonbeam wherever she is, a reminder of our affection, and our hopes she’ll someday be returned.
(The below with apologies to Nikki Giovanni)
Ever Been Cowknapped (by a D.J.)?
I think a dj cowknapped you
made you the robins egg in his rhythm and blues
hip hopped you over the Moon
Be Bopped you
never stopped you scared to drop you
Turned you green with Verdi
or Brown with James
or Pink with Floyd
Burning roots in Kingston
Seeds in Leeds
Leaves in
the morning
Never your fine flat face
to see again
On the beach
my heart on my sleeve
an ocean of tears
your happy face snout
your Black Mamba tail
your Johnny Winter udders
Bow legged horns
We dream and dream of your return
I’d wrap you in Swiss chocolate
In my Riverside chamber
twang my Jew’s Harp for you
Mooove your udder to flutter
Get your rumen a- boomin’
warp your plywood with passion
with my LoveSong for you
