    Recommended Internet Explorer Security Patch

    Hi Everybody,

I post computer security/virus bulletins only when it seems urgent. Today, microsoft took the unusual step of workaround for security problem for Internet Explorer (presumable all versions) running on Windows XP with service pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 with service pack 2 that it hasn't fixed yet, but they did release a "workaround".

I don't think this is anything to be worried about, but non-the-less it seems like a prudent and easy step to protect yourself.

You can see more about the issue here:
Microsoft warns of serious computer security hole by AP: Yahoo! Tech

And you can very easily protect yourself by going here:
Microsoft Security Advisory: Vulnerability in Microsoft Video ActiveX control could allow remote code execution

and clicking the "Fix it" button under the "Enable workaround" label.

This is another reason why I recommend switching to the Firefox browser. They just released a new version (3.5) and it runs on both PC's and Macs. You can get it (FREE) here:

Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client/

The installation/upgrade is fast and easy.

Thanks Barry. BTW -- it seems to apply to Windows XP (Home and Professional) using Service Pack 3 as well.
