Floracanta, an early music a cappella music ensemble, is looking for a beautiful woman's voice to fill out our ranks.

Floracanta's mission is to research, interpret, perfect, perform and delight in music from the Middle Ages through 1650.
We generally prepare two seasons of performances each year, in late spring and early summer (focusing on secular music and madrigals) and at the winter holidays (focusing on sacred and holiday music). We are in the process of developing repertoire and also make ourselves available for winery performances, events, and weddings. We perform in elegant Renaissance attire.

The singer who joins us will have experience with singing early music, a capacity to sing with minimal vibrato, and willingness to take on singing a part on her own. We are currently five (SATTB) and generally sing one-on-a-part; we are now seeking the final women's voice to enable us to perform 6-part pieces as well as to incorporate womens' trios into our performance sets.

Floracanta rehearses on Thursday evenings near Sebastopol, although if that location is a problem we have members in Santa Rosa and will move our rehearsals if it makes it possible for the right person to join us. We are a fun! group of people with a serious commitment to this music. We enjoy one another's company and take great joy in exploring this diverse and beautiful genre of music.

If this sounds like the musical experience you have been waiting for reply to this post for information about auditioning for Floracanta. We'll be delighted to hear from you.

Musically,

Mark
