    Here is the information on the Marx course:

    Sociology 375, Classical Sociological Theory
    Summer Intersession 2008
    July 28 - August 15, 9am - 1pm

    Actually the class covers several major Sociology theorists, all quite different politically.

    The full description is:
    "A critical examination of the writings of major sociological theorists, including Marx, Weber, and Durkheim. This course will involve students in critical analysis ofcentral sociological theories and offer them tools for understanding the development of sociological theory and its unique role in sociology."
    I actually took this same class about 20 years ago at SSU. At that time we began with de Toqueville, then read Durkheim, Weber and Marx. I can't remember if we studied other theorists. Weber's Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism contains powerful insights regarding ways Protestant views have shaped U.S. civic culture, values etc.
