Is there a volunteer Doctor in the House? (rohnert pk / cotati)

If you are a medical professional - family practice physician, medical specialist, acupuncturist, social worker, physician’s assistant, nurse, nursing student and/or nurse practitioner - and you are interested in providing free healthcare services to uninsured families in northern California we would love to introduce you to the volunteer provider opportunities of the Jewish Community Free Clinic in Rohnert Park, CA.

During weekly ‘Family Practice Clinics’ at the JCFC patients who have no health insurance are seen by volunteer medical providers on a drop-in basis in order to receive evaluations of their minor medical illnesses, direct care services for acute aches and pains, social work services and health education training on a wide variety of topics. Clinic volunteers who speak Spanish are always available to assist with the translation and cultural communication needs of Hispanic patients. If medically necessary - and usually within two months of a patient’s initial visit - referrals are provided to local medical clinics, hospital emergency rooms, social service agencies, mental health practitioners, alternative healthcare providers or Volunteer Physician Specialists.

Since 2001, JCFC volunteer providers have delivered free medical services to several thousand men, women and children living in Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties. To serve as a volunteer provider with the JCFC you must be able to attend clinic sessions several hours a month (or more if possible). The commitment required is flexible, there are a number of different ways to participate and the rewards are many and varied.
