Subject: DROP EVERYTHING! GE-Free needs help! Campaign Rally & Training -
Sat 10am
Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2005 14:55:57 -0700

Dear friends of GE-Free Sonoma County -

DROP EVERYTHING!!!

With LESS THAN SEVEN WEEKS until the election, we are down to the wire - and
we need your help NOW!
Whatever you are doing, please consider putting it on hold for a few weeks -
this simply cannot wait.

So far only a small group of dedicated people are making calls and knocking
on doors. If we do not activate more volunteers in the next week or two we
may not reach the voters we need to win. Time is short; we will not get a
second chance to save our farms, our food supply, and our community from
genetic contamination. If you care about passing Measure M, about protecting
our health and environment, now is the time to get involved. This election
will be close - we could win by as little as 20 or 30 votes per precinct.
Will you be the one to bring in those winning votes? Just a couple hours of
your time will make a real difference!

Please join us this Saturday, Sept 24, at 10am for a campaign rally and
update,
followed by a volunteer training from 11am to noon.
We will cover key talking points, strategy for the final push, and much
more.
We have new literature, more signs and stickers; and refreshments will be
served.
Join us at the new campaign office:

CAMPAIGN RALLY & TRAINING:
Sat Sept 24, at 540 Mendocino Ave,
between 7th and 9th in downtown Santa Rosa.
10am - update & strategy, refreshments;
11am - volunteer training & talking points, sign-up for phoning or walking
12noon - your are invited to walk a neighborhood with us for an hour or two.
Bring a friend!

CAMPAIGN NEEDS:
* phonebank volunteers - to make calls on weekday evenings, ask folks to
volunteer or talk to them about Measure M - call Mary 823-4480.

* precinct walkers - to knock on doors in a neighborhood, hand out
literature and talk to voters about Measure M - call Mary 823-4480.

* locations for GE-Free billboards - we need property owners on major
traffic streets and highways who will allow us to put up a large 4x8 foot
billboard for the campaign. IF you have a location, please call Didi at
823-0503.

* Drivers to deliver yard signs - we have hundreds of supporters waiting for
yard signs, need a few people with vehicles to deliver them. Call Didi at
823-0503.

* Donations! - the opposition is about to unleash a million-dollar media
blitz of advertising and slick mailers foll of lies. We urgently need to
raise money to reach voters with the truth about Measure M. Every dollar you
give reaches two key voters; $50 will reach 100 voters who otherwise might
never hear from us.

To get involved, call 823-4410, or visit
https://www.gefreesonoma.org/getinvolved.html.

LEGISLATIVE ALERT:
Stop Congress and the Bush administration from degrading organic standards -
possibly allowing genetically engineered foods to be labeled "organic".

Agribusiness front groups such as the Farm Bureau, big food corporations
like Kraft, biotech companies such as Monsanto, and industry-friendly
government agencies are trying to undermine organic standards and get USDA
to allow conventional chemical-intensive and factory farm practices on
organic farms.

Call the Capital Switchboard at: 877-762-8762, and tell your US Senator
(Boxer & Feinstein) to not support any amendments to the ag appropriations
bill that would lower organic standards - for more info, go to
https://www.organicconsumers.org/sos.cfm.
