I guess I'm not as enlightened as you all; I don't get it. What is the meaning of this? Sarcasm? Facetious? Serious? Yay hotel? Boo hotel?

Meaning is in the eye of the beholder. What I see is the smallness of the people and the largeness of our container--nature, lifting from the watery land, with arms reaching up toward the heavens. It also has an indigenous evocation. Oh, lovely grass, as Walt Whitman wrote in "Leaves of Grass," and such evocative clouds. And those divine wings and small face. My eyes are drawn to the background hills. It hangs together well, as does nature.

I notice the leafless trees, implying Fall. What a glorious first rain we just had, though it was problematic on some roads, as industrial, wheeled, fast-moving vehicles sought dryness. Note the fallen tree trunks in the background--snags.

The "Laguna Sighting--Spirit of the Aquifer" title appeals to me, but not the add on "Heralding the new hotel." This art form, however created, works better for me than adding that controversial hotel.

I write this after an early morning walk, praising the sweet darkness. Maybe it is not "enlightenment," as Jay seeks, that we need as much as "endarkenment." Or as farmer Wendell Berry writes:

To go in the dark with a light
    is to know the light.

To know the dark, go dark.
    Go without sight…
and know that the dark, too,
    blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.
