Dear Sebastopol Friends and Beyond,
Myself and a team of builders are heading to North Dakota to support the pipeline protest at Standing Rock. I’ve been in direct communication with tribal council members of the Standing Rock Sioux and I’ve received permission to enter the land with a team and supplies to help build winter infrastructure, a potable water system and composting toilets. It’s quite an honor to receive this invitation and to get to participate in one of the most important protests of our time!
The plan is to arrive within 2 weeks with a small group and supplies in tow. We will be helping to construct insulated structures which will be imperative to helping people survival the harsh winters where temperatures can dip 60 degrees below zero. We will also implement a potable water system that will draw water from the Cannonball river and allow us to cut down on the use of plastic water bottles which is currently the main form of water consumption. In addition, we will build composting toilets which will take the place of the porta-pottys that are currently being used.
In order to accomplish these tasks, we need many supplies, tools, community support and financial contributions. Please consider supporting this effort. Below is a list of supplies we are looking for, including roles and responsibilities that need to be filled.
