Clinton "Clinching" the nomination

I can see how Sanders and supporters would be disturbed for this news to come out, especially on the eve of the the California (and others) primary, but wasn't it Sanders saying that Superdelegates should vote in proportion to the state vote, and presumably pledged delegates? And Clinton has more pledged delegates than Sanders. So he is placing his hopes in the un-democratic superdelegate system that he is protesting???

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Sander's be president, especially with a solid democratic congress, along with some flying pigs, but I am anxious to start unifying the party.
