Coastal access has always been a public right, in my lifetime at least, so this is a reversal of decades of Coastal Commission policy. Thanks for your concern, and please pass it on.

The Commission will hold a hearing on the Sonoma Coast State Park Fee Proposal during its April 13-15meeting in Santa Rosa. All comments and responses will be forwarded to the Commission for their review. In addition, State Parks will respond to comments received before April 8 and those comments and their corresponding responses will be posted at https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=28717. Comments received after April 8, but prior to the Commission hearing on this proposal will be forwarded to the Commission without response, but State Parks will attempt to respond to the substance of any such comments at the Commission hearing.
