Friday, April 1, 9:00am - Noon
Meeting Location: Laguna Environmental Center, 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95401
Description: Help maintain and enhance the Laguna Environmental Center's "outdoor classroom." Activities include planting, weeding, spreading wood chips, and general site cleanup. We are also looking for several people with gardening experience to serve as team leaders on scheduled work days.
The native plant landscape includes wildflowers, grasses, sedges, trees, forbes and herbaceous plants. There are 14 heritage fruit trees around the historic farmhouse as well as a small vegetable garden to represent the period the farmhouse was constructed. The site also includes beautiful views, spots to have a picnic, a living willow tunnel in the Children's Playscape, a bridge over a swale, a pond with wetland plants (plus Western Pond Turtles and a pair of Mallards!), and an observation deck.
More Details:
Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly (reply to this email). Heavy rain cancels. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Bring a personal water bottle, sunscreen and gloves. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn about native plants. Training and tools will be provided, plus abundant and hearty snacks!
Driving Directions:
From Hwy 101, take Hwy 12 West towards Sebastopol (Go 3.4 miles). At the first streetlight, turn right on Fulton Road, then take the first immediate left onto Occidental Road (Go 3.2 miles). Turn right on Sanford Road. Laguna Foundation driveway is first on the right.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you soon!
