Patrick Moore is NOT the founder of Greenpeace! Check your movement history.
The founders of Greenpeace are The Don't Make A Wave Committee, a small group comprised primarily of Quakers along with some frustrated Sierra Club activists and other environmentalists. They organized a protest together against nuclear testing and later named themselves Greenpeace.
Robert Hunter was part of that group and became the first president of the Greenpeace Foundation. No one else from the original group continued on with Greenpeace. If any one person can claim to be the founder of Greenpeace it would be Bob Hunter who died last year.
Patrick Moore became involved with Greenpeace after that along with Paul Watson and a few others. There was a small handful of people who worked together to organize the first whale campaign and then the seal hunt campaign. At that time people became involved with Greenpeace to participate in these campaigns and started chapters in several locations. A founders meeting was called to start the international organization. Patrick Moore was at that meeting along with 30 other people.
Patrick Moore later left Greenpeace due to differences he had with the aims of the organization. Greenpeace was involved in the anti-nuclear movement, for example, and Patrick Moore is in favor of nuclear power. And now 30 years later he is a spokesperson for Monsanto in favor of GMOs.
Here is Patrick Moore now, representing Monsanto and promoting the herbicide glyphosate:
