    Fallen Tree leaf

    Fallen Tree leaf

    How quickly they forget

I'm just a fallen tree leaf on any cool winter’s day.

My only usefulness is when the afternoon Sun burns you.

You only used me to hide under in the shadows of darkness.

Then, when winter soon comes and I fall to the ground,

You forget what I did for you as you walk all over me.

The only sound that you choose to hear from me

Is the crunch of the leaves under your foot.

But they say, pay no mind to the fallen leaf

Because the Gardener comes in the morning.

He can blow me away with his powerful machines,

put me in a sack and cart me off to the disposal site.

Then once again you can admire your pretty green lawn.

    How quickly they forget.

    Re: Fallen Tree leaf

Very interesting poem. I am one of those people who try to thank the trees or the wind for cooling me on a warm day and vice versa. Thanks for putting this into words. Nice.

Thank you for your gratitude, forveterans49.
We are all connected but many do not understand this concept.
