Oh, and YES on Y as well. Let's spend a tiny bit more each to open our libraries on Monday again and catch up on the maintenance, etc. too.
So Long and Thanks for All the Fish!

Thanks Lilith! Here is a copy of the email that I sent to more than a thousand library petition signers for Measure Y. Two years ago the turnout vote on this issue was less than expected and it lost by just 4% of the vote. It needs 66.7% of the vote, which will not be easy. It's gonna take a village of more than 100,000 voters to make it a reality, so let's all spread the word....
Dear Library supporter,
It has been years since you first signed our Restore Library Hours camapign. Unwilling to accept the new normal, we are still struggling to restore the hours that were cut back nearly five years ago, to reopen on Mondays and evenings.
Our wonderful county has recovered from the recession, but our library has not.
That's why I join the Sonoma County Library Commission in urging you to vote for Measure Y this November, a small 1/8 of 1% sales tax, that will restore hours and put our libraries on a sound economic footing once again.

Please consider spreading the word about Measure Y on your Facebook page, and especially to parents and grandparents of pre-schoool and school age children, as well as seniors and other library lovers in our community.
There are loads of public initiatives on the ballot this year. As the Press Democrat recently editorialized, if you vote for only one, make it this one! Remember, Y is for Yes!
