sure. Now to be clear - I don't think this is really going on in any significant way. I just think it's interesting that such things are so cheap and accessible, even if you're not part of the NSA or the lizard overlords.

The 'they' who might be doing it are more likely to be smaller advocacy groups, in my opinion. As in so many other forms of social engineering, sketchy techniques don't usually do much to convert anyone - they're easiest to use when all you're doing is reinforcing existing beliefs.
