The Community Media Center needs your help! They're in imminent danger of losing their funding from the City of Santa Rosa.
The Community Media Center in Santa Rosa is a wonderful nonprofit resource that gives a voice to the voiceless (hear me, Occupiers?) and helps people learn useful skills in video production. Membership and basic classes in things like Camera, Sound, Animation, Video Production, etc. are very, very inexpensive and their studios, equipment and other resources are available so those of us in the 99% can be on public access TV and/or make videos for our own use!
But we need to show our major funders that we can generate a substantial part of our operating budget. Here's how you can help:
--Become a member (details at the website; see below).
--Offer pro bono legal work to help us advocate for continued funding from the City or other government resources.
--Offer grant writing on a volunteer basis.
--Talk to us about your business or organization underwriting the Media Center.
--Send donations.
--Make available to us spaces wherein we can put on movie/video screenings, musical shows, or other fund-raising events.
--Support our fund-raising events with in-kind donations of food or whatever you have.
--Help us with your fund-raising expertise.
--Other ideas? We're all ears!
