    Questions?

I'm not sure if this it either poetry or prose but these questions came to me over a period of time from that mindful state between sleep and wakefulness and I wrote them down. I'm really not sure what to do with them but maybe just to ponder them.

    QUESTIONS?

What makes something wonderful? Don't you sometimes wonder? Can you imagine everything being full of wonder? Isn't it possible that a mystic is just someone who opens him or her self to the mystery of things? Isn't it possible that a questioning mind is an open mind? Is maybe consciousness really a mind that is open and questioning? Can you see how an answer to a question is the doors of perception slamming shut? Do you realize that all of our lives we have been taught to know the right answers? Can you picture how thinking itself is not an expansion but really a reduction of mind bent toward a 'right' answer? Isn't an answer, right or wrong, just the end of a thought? Is it really wise to assume to have absolute answers? Isn't it possible that every question has unlimited answers? Are our certainties closing us off from multiple possibilities? Are most of our present problems really just due to a lack of imagination and wonder?

Is it possible that our richest heritage as human beings is our imagination? Can you imagination? Aren't some of our best qualities made of it? Doesn't our deepest creativity come from the imagination? What about hope? Empathy? Even happiness? Is it possible that it's imagination that makes us human? Is life just the testing ground for our imagination? Is maybe the meaning of life to foster our imagination? Can you just relax and let your imagination run free? Doesn't imagination come unbidden from depths unknown? Isn't it just unforced thought? Do you put imagination in the category of kids' stuff? Don't all possibilities come from someplace deep in the imagination? Or do you imagine that you just live in a world of cold hard facts? Aren't dreams pure imagination? Insight? How about spirituality? Philosophy?

Isn't everything in your experience just your perception of it? Are you responsible for your perceptions? Are you stuck in your perceptions? Are answers just stuck places? Are there other ways to look at some of the things that trouble you? Is seeing things in just one way a kind of delusion? Are you afraid of not having an answer? Does paradox and ambiguity make you crazy? Does certainty just make you feel safer? Aren't the locks on the doors of perception on the inside? Are you limiting your own perceptions?

Oh what would the world be like if we all could realize the misconception that truth is an absolute? Isn't it possible that everything is truth? Isn't perhaps truth the weaving of all viewpoints? Don't we desperately need to open to broader concepts of truth to save ourselves from ourselves? Does conventional wisdom hold back evolution? Are we stuck in a fundamentalist fear of evolution? Who owns the truth? Doesn't knowing another viewpoint just make us bigger? Do you wonder? Is ego just attachment to what we think we know? Do you realize that there are unlimited perspectives and levels from which any one of us of can experience the world?

Aren't these all-philosophical questions? But is just thinking and talking about philosophy enough? Isn't it the actual practice and the resulting experience of philosophy that makes it real? What is your practice? Isn't your practice what you do? Shouldn't you just find or create the philosophy that vibrates with your own ideal and then just live it? Is there just too much stuff out there to sort through to find your ideal? Is maybe looking inward worthwhile? Isn't that what knowing yourself is about? This wonderful process is never finished but isn't it where to look for your own true character, meaning, and wisdom? Isn't this life your allotment to spend as your deepest self sees fit? Do you have the courage to live your own ideal? Are you big enough to let others realize theirs?
