Interfaith Worker Justice has organized Wal-Mart vigils all over the country for suppliers' workers. Faith leaders and worker advocates -- including atheists, like yours truly, the organizer of the Rohnert Park vigil -- across the US are standing in solidarity with Wal-Mart store and supply chain workers. On Saturday, Dec. 22, from 2 to 3, let's meet at the Rohnert Park Wal-Mart, 4625 Redwood, as we remember the Bangladeshi workers who died in a recent fire (similar to the notorious Triangle fire of 1911 -- exits padlocked, etc.) at a factory that produces garments for Wal-Mart -- and for their families, friends and neighbors who are now mourning their loss. Be sure to wear your long undies and bring your fair trade coffee or cocoa and umbrella, and a message on the last to the effect of "Wal-Mart: Protect the workers who make your merchandise" might be apt.
