    100 Thousand Poets for Change

100 Thousand Poets for Change Event in Fairfax

"100 Thousand Poets for Change, or 100TPC, is an international grassrootseducational organization focusing on the arts, especially poetry, music, and the literary arts. It was founded in 2011 by Michael Rothenberg and Terri Carrion, and focuses on a world-wide event each September"
    --Wikipedia.

On September 29th -- 4 Hours - Noon 'til 4pm Fairfax - Peri Park bandstand (follow Park west at Bolinas, by the picnic tables) - part of the largest poetry event in history ever! This is a free event, and is co-sponsored by the Fairfax Parks and Rec Committee.

Appearing at the Fairfax event: Albert Flynn deSilver, Rev. Joey Talley, Tony R. Rodriguez, Luke Warn Water, Daniel Michael McKenzie, Rockit Science, Minus One (Dana Alberts). More bands and poets TBA.

Blast off with the R&B original music by Rockit Science, and chill with the hard skate rock of Minus One (Dana Alberts -- DC-Jam recording artist). And pure poetically unpasteurized pleasure with the following poets and performance artists--

Albert Flynn DeSilver is an author, amongst other appellations, most recently of Beamish Boy: A Memoir(Spring 2012). His work has appeared in more than 100 literary journals worldwide.

Native American Indian poet and performance artist Luke Warm Water was born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota, and is an enrolled member of the Lakota Tribe.

Luke currently resides in Oakland, California. He is the author of John Wayne Shot Me, and several other books.

Pagan Neil: "I've been a Street Poet since the Summer of Love, but somehow managed to acquire a B.A. in Humanities, an M.A. in Poetry & an M.F.A. in Poetics & Writing. I'm a Member of the American Academy of Poets & the National & Alta California Storytellers.

"I've had 8 books & chapbooks published including the dictionary: Book of Love: An Encyclopedic Lexicon & Consulting Dictionary of the Word Love.(1985), 12 Moon Poems (1989) and You Can't Fit a Square Head in a Round Soul (1970).

Further bio info can be obtained on his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pagan.neil.79). He will appear with his son, Jack Duggan Neil; and possibly Alan Shearer, a violinist.

Joey Talley is a Wiccan minister and poet living in the Deer Park area of Fairfax.

Tony R. Rodriguez, an East Bay writer and poet, will read from an undisclosed manuscript.

Daniel McKenzie will read two short poems. Carl Macki has not decided what he will read, possibly "World of Illusion;" and the work of several poets that could not make it, including a greeting from Cole Swensen.

Many delightful surprises, to be sure!

This is an alcohol-free event. You are invited to bring food and drink, as there are picnic tables. The bandstand is framed from the north by a small grove of redwood trees. It is a beautiful spot; it is important to keep it spotless.
Whatever, please be sure to clean up your site if you bring food and recyclables to the park. A toilet is located nearby in City Hall, at the corner of Bolinas and Park. (This intersection is two-and-a-quarter blocks south from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.)

Fairfax is accessible by public transit from the San Rafael Transit Center (3rd and Heatherton). We recommend taking the Stagecoach (Route #68) to the event. It leaves San Rafael at 11:30, and arrives in Fairfax at 11:51 (see Marin Transit schedule). It will let you out two at Broadway and Bolinas. Walk down Bolinas until you reach Park and turn right. You may also bring private automobiles; please be mindful of bicyclists.

2nd Annual Worldwide Event Includes Musicians and Poets Striving for Global Change.

Over 700 Events Planned in More Than 100 Countries (If you can't make it to Fairfax, consider going to another venue.). Visit https://100tpc.org.

Thanks, we trust you will wholly enjoy this event!

(Have attached a 300dpi poster for you to print and put up if you like. Certainly so if you work at, or frequent places like community arts centers, bookstores and coffee shops. It would be very much appreciated, as we are very busy with things online, and don't own a car.)
