The West County Seed Exchange March monthly gathering was bursting with exchange of information and seeds. While several people migrated in and out to get seeds and resource handouts, others listened as Yetti share his bank of knowledge on bi-annuals focusing on onions and brassicas. In the words of Marilyn, “We must discuss having Yetti cloned!

His session on biennials was phenomenal. Such depth of experience and powers of observation. I began to appreciate the complexity of the brassicas.” The room remained a buzz following the class, as people clustered into small groups excited to exchange information, contacts and resources.

I had to listen to Miguel Elliott from livingearthstructures.com, described a vision based on the model he constructed in Patagonia. Imagine a site with a cob bank, cob oven, a playground and garden: a place where families gather to play, garden and cook in community and economy is based on a full bank of locally grown heirloom seeds.

Join the WCCSE growing community: gatherings are held from 9:00-12:30 the last Saturday of every month (except November and December.) Check our blog for details: westcountyseedbank.blogspot.com
