My daughter fell on the ice and broke her wrist so severely they are telling her she has
to have surgery and they are going to put a permanent metal pin in her arm. Does anyone
have experience with this?

There are a few things to consider:
1. This depends on how the fracture is aligned. Some of these need surgery and some don't.
2. If you do not have surgery and the wrist heals in a crooked fashion, it could limit her range of motion for the rest of her life. You don't want that.
3. There is no such thing as a "permanent pin." There are many MDs that will be happy to remove the pins after a couple years once they are assured that it has healed in a solid manner.

I broke my arm and jammed my wrist last spring. did have surgery to put the pieces back but also got lots of acupuncture at walk in clinic in downtown seb. and also have had EXCELLENT RESULTS getting all the ligaments and tendons back in place w Diana Somps - she is extremely well trained in a few areas (ask her about that). She is in Novato and totally worth the money and drive - she is reasonably priced - call me and I will give you her contact info.
